On this site drummer Kevin O’Sullivan presents a series of performances, recordings and instruction sessions resulting from his study of the Atsia dance and music of Ewe speaking people in Ghana. The site is a series of interactive segments which contain Drumset recreations, tuition on types of rhythms, The kogiri (a traditional xylophone from Ghana which can be played by clicking on each bar with the cursor), Performance gallery with videos of live performances, and musicological information on functional music. An interesting African day name generator is found in Anlo-Ewe culture. In Traditional rhythms, clicking on each instrument results in the particularly useful combination of video footage with audio, plus traditional notation at the bottom of the screen, with real time scrolling during playback.
